| Details: | Quantum Mechanics is an extremely successful theory. Its predictions have matched the most precise measurements that we are capable of making. Yet, deep down, all is not well with Quantum Mechanics. The process of measurement is shrouded in mystery. We do not understand why the Schrodinger equation fails to hold in the event of a measurement. That a fundamental theory of the universe should have to refer to such imprecise notions as “measurement” and “observer” is deeply unsatisfactory. In this talk I shall explore the various facets of this problem and discuss candidate solutions. |
