Grounded in a passion for career development and education, I will share my professional journey
from BS-MS training (major in Chemical Sciences) in IISER Kolkata, through doctoral research
in the United States, to building a career in the industry. In the first part, I will share insights on
leveraging academic experiences and navigating the early steps of an industry career. The second
part of the talk examines the challenges associated with industrial manufacturing of biomedical
polymers as they have become indispensable in applications such as drug delivery, tissue
engineering, and medical devices. Through selected case studies, I will illustrate how bench-scale
polymer innovations can be translated into industrial-scale production. I will also discuss key
considerations in scaling up polymer synthesis, focusing on reproducibility, compliance with Good
Manufacturing Practices (GMP), regulatory guidelines from bodies like the FDA which are critical
for the successful integration of polymers into clinical settings. |
