| Details: | In this introductory talk, we shall introduce the notion of the cut locus of a subset, a concept intrinsic to any Riemannian manifold. We shall see examples, discuss some important properties, and define other closely related concepts such as focal locus and separating set. Although having some familiarity with Riemannian geometry would be helpful, we shall recall all the relevant notions. There will be pictures! |
