Cooperativity in transition metal complexes has recently been realized to play an important role in transition metal complex catalyzed/mediated organic transformation.1-2 In classical transition metal complex catalyzed reactions, the coordinated ligand is playing the spectator role towards the metal ions by providing only structural and electronic influence and the metal is acting as the only source or sink of electrons for bond breaking or bond forming reactions. In comparison metal ligand cooperative complex has been found to play such activity not only by providing the structural and electronic influence to the metal, but also acts as source or sink of electrons for bond breaking and bond making reactions. Such cooperative action has been found to provide high catalytic efficiency, more sustainable catalytic activity and some time new reactivity. In this context ortho-C-N bond forming reactivity of anilines on transition metal template will be discussed.3,4 Development of two-in–one pincer ligand and its bimetallic cooperative action in catalytic alkene hydroboration reaction will also be presented.5,6 |
