In this talk, I will broadly describe the strengths of string theory and its promise as a theory of quantum gravity. I will then go on to talk about possible modifications to its flexible framework. Metastring Theory as proposed by Freidel, Leigh and Minic in a recent paper is a reformulation of string theory in the phase-space which allows introduction of curvature to the momentum space as a possibility to bridge QM and GR. I will outline a very rudimentary basic framework of metastring theory in flat space as well as highlight its successes. I will then proceed to talk about my work in "stripology" which recovers the closed string in meta-string theory as well as shows a natural evolution of meta-D-Branes. I will wrap up with a proposal for a simplified framework for calculation of string interaction amplitudes and cross-sections as well as a short discussion of string bits. |
