Recently, crystal engineering has emerged as the promising approach for the design and development of pharmaceuticals. The objective of this research is to investigate the potential of pharmaceutical co-crystals involving some active ingredients prepared by supramolecular synthesis in enhancing physicochemical stability and other biopharmaceutical attributes. In this context, our recent contributions of multicomponent crystals from BCS class I, II and IV drugs (caffeine, griseofulvin and nitrofurantoin) are considered. The results suggest that co-crystals can be viable candidates for achieving target oriented functionality in the actives. |
