Starting from basic Galois theory we will see how arithmetic and geometric reality plays a great role behind Grothendieck’s philosophy of motives (which I call Grothendieck’s Galois theory). We will explore further to see how this philosophy played a great role in many modern advances in geometry and arithmetic. We will also see how it is supposed to play a decisive role in many outstanding conjectures in transcendence
theory and Langlands program. In the end we will see that Grothendieck’s philosophy of motives is almosta reality and modulo some reasonable conjectures we have a new toy to play with. |
