Anion recognition and extraction by synthetic hosts is an area of general interest, with promising analytical, industrial and environmental applications. In this context, a wide variety of receptors for selective recognition of anions of various shape and size have been synthesized by us. In particular, Tris(2-aminoethyl)amine (TREN), benzene and cyanuric acid platforms based receptors containing different anion recognition elements (ammonium, amide, urea, thiourea, acidic –CH and electron deficient π-centre) with increasing complexity from tripodal, macrobicycle, molecular capsule to hexapodal systems have been developed and applied in sequestration of aerial carbon dioxide and chemical separation/extraction which will be presented in this talk. |
