Details: | An overview of the development of the mathematical culture of India, from the earliest times till about 1600 AD when creative mathematics came to a stop. Special attention will be paid to the two themes in the title: the origins and early history of decimal numeration (including the role of zero) and the evolution of calculus from its finite version (Aryabhata) to its final infinitesimal form (Madhava) |
