bout the Session
Higher education for the future must take into account the following three major shifts: (1). increasing commoditization of information; (2). increasing interface with technology as a way of life, especially among students; (3). increasing complexity of the world. In response to these factors, higher education sector must redouble its central focus on the “training of critical minds”. In this session, Prof.Tan Chorh Chuan will share some of the recent initiatives spearheaded by the National University of Singapore in developing innovative pedagogies for Medicine to Music and from Business to Engineering. The focus of the NUS’ initiatives is not on putting more of the university’s teaching materials online. Instead, the university also gives more emphasis on redesigning key classes to promote more active learning by integrating online programmes with changes to face-to-face learning in the classroom.
