A smooth journey on the uses of inorganic carbon since its birth will be the topic of this talk. With the recent development of several new forms of carbon in the nano domain, their use in the benefit of fauna and flora will be highlighted. Critic’s place the toxicity aspect of these carbons and that myth is challenged by showing carbon based human activity since Mesolithic period. As predicted by Smalley that the hydrophobic nano carbon should be made hydrophilic for the use in biomedical research, we developed such water-soluble derivatives. These are in use to probe the full life cycle imaging of Drosophila Melanogaster and in use as cargo for drug delivery in crossing blood brain barrier to reach neuron. These are also used to irradiate hospital pathogen and mosquito. Finally the dream of Nicola Tesla is achieved as we could demonstrate the aerobic respiration of low grade coal (without burning) similar to Warburg’s “Atmungsferment” followed with Kreb’s cycle to generate electricity day and night to rival solar energy research. |
