The functions of chemical/biological molecules are intimately related to their ability to undergo structural and conformational changes (dynamics) and their ability to interact with the surrounding environment/molecules (interactions). In my talk, I will focus on estimating non-covalent interactions and ultrafast dynamics using novel approaches of vibrational Stark effect (VSE) spectroscopy and two dimensional infrared (2DIR) spectroscopy. Direct spectroscopic evidences will be presented, which include ultrafast interconversion of weak non-covalent interactions in chemistry/biology, role of the solvent/environment in organocatalysis/enzyme catalysis. |
