Chiral molecules are mirror image molecules with same atomic constituents. The left - and right- handed molecules although similar in constitution can lead to potentially significant differences in their chemical reactions. Chirality is present everywhere in world - Amino acids, DNA, RNA, medical drugs, food flavors, perfumes etc. In this presentation, I will discuss how such chiral structures are discriminated and discuss the new emerging technique of Photo-electron Circular Dichroism (PECD) which is based on photoionization. I will discuss some new proposals to explore chirality. |
