Radicals play an important role in bond-forming and bond-breaking processes.1
In organic
chemistry, however, carbon-centred radicals are usually observed as rather short-lived
intermediates. In recent years there have been reports on the isolable carbon based
delocalized and localized radicals.
2 One of the synthetic route for the generation of carbon
based radicals could be the 1-e reduction of corresponding carbocation.
In this talk I will discuss the convenient synthetic route for the syntheses of different kinds
of pyrrolinium cations, which we have used for the synthesis of carbon centre based
localized and delocalized radicals.
