Publishing research findings is an integral part of scientist’s professional life, yet most scholarly journals are often perceived as black boxes by the early career researchers. There are two main reasons for this perception: (1) lack of transparency in the publication process, (2) lack of editorial tips for successful submissions. Whereas we are in a constant process of improving the publication workflow, in this talk, I will mainly focus on providing editorial tips for bringing your research from the lab to a published article. Some of the questions I will address are: how to choose the right journal, importance of the cover letter, the editorial office and my role as an editor, the core principles of peer-review process, how you (author) can expedite the process ? |
