Drug Discovery and Development is a demanding, costly and highly low-win process. Yet, the R&D spend is increasing YOY, with global companies, countries and consortiums investing billions into the process, that yields less and less successful candidates. These investments are paying off as novel immuno-oncology and gene therapy treatments have demonstrated successful clinical data and generated significant hope. However, these RD successes come with a large price tag. This is where India has a potential advantage and if we can get our strategy right, then we can bring about enormous benefit to the global population using our talent, genomics, and talent. For that, we must be able to invest, strategize and bring in global talent along with the latest technologies.
