I shall present two complementary examples of probing the quantum origins of our universe. The first shall be a top-down approach in which I shall present a UV-complete model of early universe cosmology, starting from a non-perturbative formulation of String Theory. In this approach, spacetime is emergent from abstract matrix degrees of freedom. In the second half, I will give bottom-up examples of where quantum entanglement becomes important in cosmology. In particular, I will show why there are always unobservable degrees of freedom during inflation, and how an open quantum system approach reveals new (nonlocal and nonunitary) effects for QFTs in curved space. Time permitting, I will illustrate more generally how quantum informatic measures, e.g. Complexity, plays a fundamental role in cosmic ER=EPR in dS holography. |
