Ragging has plagued the student community since time immemorial. The barbaric, obnoxious and irresponsible conduct has often led to dire consequences. The mental, physical and emotional abuse is abysmal to the core where the offender ends up in the wrong side of the black letter law opposed to the ideas of our constitutional morality. Education should empower and inspire and not the otherwise. Learning 'empathy' is vital for the holistic well-being of the entire student community; the flagbearers of which are mostly the seniors of the academic institution. Thus, the misconduct of ragging not only entails criminal liability but also leads to severe repercussions relating and not limited to academics only. |
